Our external stakeholders

We have a wide range of external stakeholders, from our shareholders and customers to the media. In 2007 we continued to engage with stakeholders, helping us to take account of their needs in the way we do business.

We aim to uphold the highest levels of integrity in our interactions with all of our stakeholders. We recognise that communication with our customers, our shareholders, and our stakeholders in the community are not just a series of one-off transactions, but relationships that can last over many years.

We engage proactively on those public policy issues, which impact most upon our business and our customers.

In 2007 we focussed on four key areas:

  • Building trust in financial services
  • Treating our customers fairly
  • Keeping our customers’ data secure
  • Building stronger relationships with our shareholders
Find out more about the work in these areas in the latest CR Report.

A report from the Personal Finance Research Centre

From the foreword by Anne Gunther, Chief Executive, Standard Life Bank -

"Standard Life is delighted to be supporting this important research by the Personal Finance Research Centre.

The last year has seen increased levels of public concern over personal borrowing and debt. This is reflected in the extent to which these issues, together with financial advice, education and exclusion, have risen rapidly up the public policy agenda.

The challenge for policymakers is how to respond to these concerns."
