Our main chosen charity partners for 2008 are:

 

UK

• The British Lung Foundation (Cancer Research)
  The only UK charity working for everyone affected by lung disease.
  
  
• The Place2Be A pioneer in the field of children’s health, this charity supports 3,000 children in Edinburgh and 40,000 children across the UK.

In addition we are also supporting:

• Tenovus
  Tenovus supports cancer research through its laboratories in Southampton, and provides patient services such as specialist cancer nurses and a free helpline.
  
  
• Beechwood
  A holistic cancer care centre based in Stockport, Beechwood offers support and counselling for those with a cancer diagnosis and their carers.
  
  

Ireland

• Simon Communities of Ireland
  This charity’s vision it to make the end of homelessness in Ireland a reality.
  
  
• Mental Health Ireland
  A youth programme that delivers resources to secondary level schools to create positive mental health.

Canada

Fundraising from Canada's 175th Anniversary celebrations in 2008 will support numerous charities including:

Germany

• Kinderhilfestiftung (literal translation Children's Help Foundation) is a highly respected umbrella organisation supporting a range of children's charities.

Austria

• Licht Ins Dunkel (literal translation Light in the Darkness) is a charity helping deprived children in Austria.

Fundraising in Standard Life started in 1999 at the start of our LIVE175 anniversary appeal to celebrate 175 years of Standard Life being in business.

After the LIVE175 appeal ended (£2million was raised for 41 charities throughout the UK!) staff decided that they wanted to continue to raise money for charity choosing new charities to work with each year.

2003 saw the launch of the 'Give it Life' campaign where each member of staff was challenged to raise £25 for charity (we have approximately 8000 staff in the UK).
