UK Regional Sales Support Manager
Department: Direct Sales Force
Location: Regional (North, South, Midlands)
Salary: £30,000 - £39,000
Job Purpose
To ensure all sales and marketing activity by Appointed Representatives and their employees is carried out in accordance with the relevant Rules, as dictated by relevant legislation (eg. Financial Services Authority I.C.O.B rules, the Data Protection Act and the E.U. Distance Marketing Directive).
To provide Management Support to Regional Managers to ensure business targets are met while ensuring full compliance with the regulatory framework .
Dimensions
- The jobholder reports to the Regional Manager
- Works with two other Regional Support Managers
- Works with Compliance Officers
- Assists in managing self employed representatives spread throughout an allocated region.
- Region will accountable for Premium Credit.
Key Outputs
- To manage, monitor and report on all the activity of ARs in the allocated region as per the agreed monitoring plan. Including regional offices competence and compliance.
- To provide management support, providing sales process and compliance coaching of all allocated ARs.
- Assist to organise and deliver product and compliance licensing through Regional Briefings ad hoc, or at least three times a year
- Prepare all relevant material for the meetings
- Arrange and deliver Induction Training courses for new ARs
- To assist the compliance officers in the investigation of complaints and assist in their resolution (both verbally and in writing).
- Accompanying new ARs on appointments following the successful completion of the course (frequency of accompanied visits to be determined on a case by case basis and recorded on the quarterly monitoring plan)
- To work with direct reports and internal departments to ensure the smooth and efficient processing of good quality business and the delivery of excellent customer service (eg. Sales Support and Customer Care)
- To act as the referral route for Underwriting queries arising from AR activity, to include negotiating with pricing teams.
- To motivate and encourage ARs to support the achievement of their personal targets.
- To monitor the production levels of all ARs and take remedial action where necessary
- To work with the Regional Manager to achieve the departmental and corporate objectives.
- To produce a monthly activity and information report for the RM.
- To co-ordinate with internal departments in the development and maintenance of materials to support the sales process (eg. sales literature, marketing initiatives, business processes).
- To keep accurate records of any communication with ARs relating to a breach of FSA Rules, Agency Terms or other relevant legal considerations, and be able to provide such records immediately where required by relevant internal departments (eg. Standard Life’s Legal Department).
Authorisation and Limitations
- Authority to change working practices where appropriate.
- Authority to plan and implement staff training initiatives.
- Authority to plan own workload and that of team.
- Will be required to work within FSA regulations at all times.
- Authority to award and terminate Agency Agreements on behalf of the company
- Authority to allocate budgetary expenses to the amount of £500.
Qualifications and Experience
- FPC and preferably AFPC qualified.
- The job holder should have extensive knowledge of all aspects of Private Medical Insurance and of the legislation and regulations within which it operates.
- Proven sales experience in the Financial Services Industry experience.
- Good understanding of legislative framework in which SLH operates is desirable
- Supervisory experience desirable.

- Handling difficult staff and/or including ARs, situations i.e. motivation, discontent.
- Maintaining a demanding working lifestyle involving frequent travel and overnight stays throughout the UK.
