UK Procurement Consultant
Location: Head Office - Edinburgh

Contract: Permanent
Starting Salary: up to £42,000 (depending on relevant experience)
Background
As a Procurement Consultant you will support, advise and influence internal partners to ensure goods and services are bought on best value for money terms for the Standard Life Group.
You will report to the Procurement Manager and work in a team of 8 Procurement Consultants.
Key Responsibilities
- To assess existing contracts and suppliers arrangements to ensure best practices are followed and continued improvements achieved.
- Participate in new projects to ensure best procurement practices are followed.
- Support reviews of existing spends or new projects, including working with Legal Services on contractual aspects and our internal partners to ensure appropriate ongoing supplier management techniques are applied.
- Develop and maintain a relationship with internal partner areas to ensure they appreciate what professional procurement can do to help them and encourage them to exercise best practices on their lesser value spends.
Skills and experience required
- Ideally able to display a high degree of commercial awareness
- Minimum 4 years procurement or supplier management experience
- Expert knowledge of the strategic sourcing process
- Expert knowledge of supplier relationship management processes
- Proven track record of influencing and managing change programs
- Educated to degree level in business discipline or equivalent
- Ideally Membership of the Charted Institute of Purchasing and Supply
- Proven track record of managing a number of contracts simultaneously
- Proven track record of good communication and negotiation skills
- Competent in Excel, Word and Notes
- Ideally competent in Project and Change Management
