Standard Life has one of the largest IT divisions in Scotland, supported by state-of-the-art mainframe technology, that combines the benefits of client-server oriented solutions using C#, Java and internet technologies. 

Training
You could join our IT team in either IS Development or Operational Services.

IS Development involves working on strategic business projects, and focuses on providing new products for our marketplace. This is in addition to helping maintain and develop our existing IS strategy. You may be working with COBOL11, C#, Java, .NET and internet solutions.

Operational Services covers the provision and enhancement of our IS infrastructure. In this area you might be dealing with Desktop, Mainframe or Midrange servers, Voice and Data Networks, Middleware or Web Services

Development
Whichever route you choose, we’ll tailor your training to suit your role and your strengths as an individual. From day one, you’ll have the added benefit of a mentor to support and guide you. And, as part of your training, you’ll also have the opportunity to attend a combination of external and internal courses, as well as valuable practical project experience.

Entry Requirements
You’ll be enthusiastic, with an enquiring mind, and you’ll enjoy being a team-player. You’ll also need to have certain qualifications depending on which area of IS you’d like to join.

To work in IS Development - You need to have:

• A degree in any discipline, as long as you have gained some IT or business knowledge and have a real desire to develop a career in IT.
