Standard Life signs sponsorship partnership with British Wheelchair Basketball

Standard Life has signed a partnership with British Wheelchair Basketball to be the official sponsor of the GB Men's and Women's teams and their home games.

Standard Life has been sponsoring British Basketball since 2009 and this new partnership with British Wheelchair Basketball completes its sponsorship and support of basketball in the UK. It means the Standard Life brand will be prominent on the jerseys of the GB Men's and Women's Wheelchair Basketball teams and at all their home games, including those coming up in the EIS Sheffield this March.

This announcement comes almost a year to the day since Standard Life launched its repositioned brand with a refreshed visual identity.

Commenting on the new partnership, Graeme McEwan, Standard Life's Group Director of Communications said: "This is an exciting new partnership for us with British Wheelchair Basketball - it is a progressive and dynamic organisation and very much aligned to what our brand represents.

"Wheelchair basketball is an incredible spectator sport and its athletes have inspirational stories of personal commitment, drive and dedication. With our support, we hope they will feel even more confident about achieving their goals in 2012 and beyond.

Chairman of British Wheelchair Basketball, Malcolm Tarkenter said, "We are delighted to agree a partnership with Standard Life as we enter our final preparations for the Paralympic Games in London this year.

"Our partnership will greatly enhance the experience and preparations of both the GB Men's and Women's teams at this exciting time as well as providing the opportunity to promote wheelchair basketball to a far wider audience. The GB teams are looking sharp for 2012 and with the added support from Standard Life we hope to realise our dreams and the aspirations of the nation.

"British Wheelchair Basketball not only pushes for excellence on the court, we have a real belief that whilst developing wheelchair basketball we develop people; something we are conscious of and Standard Life strongly believes in too.

"We share many of the same values in striving to achieve excellence in a socially responsible manner and we hope that through our national teams we can realise our organisations' shared goals."
