Standard Life held its annual Chairman's Awards Ceremony in the Hilton Edinburgh Grosvenor Hotel last night. Now in its fourth year, the Chairman's Awards initiative, hosted by Gerry Grimstone, is a global awards programme designed to recognise and celebrate the outstanding efforts of Standard Life employees in their local communities.
Over 120 guests attended, including the award finalists, senior executives, charity representatives and notable external guests.
Awards were presented in seven categories for;
Winners received a commemorative award and a £1,000 donation to their charity or community group. One runner-up and one highly commended nominee for each category received a framed certificate and a £500 donation to their charity or community group.
Gerry Grimstone, Chairman of Standard Life said: "Standard Life has a long history of corporate community investment and through these awards we recognise and celebrate the outstanding contributions of our people through their commitment to the environment, volunteering, education and fundraising. We want to recognise our people who support our corporate community investment programme and the impact this can have in developing both our people and our business.
"All of the entries were of a very high standard. Every nominee should be very proud of the excellent work they do in the community. It's an honour to have so many exceptional people within the Standard Life group."

Winners were:
Environment Award - UK Business Corporate Pensions Green Team, for actively promoting environmental awareness and encouraging change in behaviour amongst colleagues, covering paper waste, recycling, travel habits, and building environmental issues into business plans.
Education in the Community Award - Pauline Drummond, UK Business, for her work in delivering workshops to school and adult students from all social backgrounds assisting young people in preparing for the world of work and improve their chances of employment.
Fundraising Award (Team) - Rosheen Caw and Gill Rust, UK Business and Group Corporate Centre, for raising almost £5000 this year for breast cancer charity Walk the Walk through race nights, cinema nights, forfeiting 40th birthday presents in place of donations, and hiking the Inca trail in Peru.
Fundraising Award (Individual) - Fiona Love, UK Business, for raising over £17000 since January 2009 for Motor Neurone Disease charity, through various sponsored events, disco nights and parties, and trekking the Inca trail in Peru.
Volunteering Award (Team) - Distribution Strategic Change Team, UK Business, for transforming the garden and doing an internal make-over of the Leonard Cheshire Care Home in Edinburgh's Portobello.
Volunteering Award (Individual) - Alison Walker, UK Business, for campaigning for greater awareness of breast cancer screening, acting as patient representative of a clinical trial into the benefits of radiotherapy, and representing the UK for the National Breast Cancer Coalition.
Special Lifetime Achievement Award for Fundraising - Antonio Musano, Standard Life Canada, for his ongoing commitment to fundraising during which he has raised a staggering 214,000CAD for various causes, such as Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Canada, the Make a Wish Foundation and the Haiti earthquake relief.
